SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (September 5, 2008) - Myriad Software has selected James Smith, a 20-year Fortune 500 technology veteran, as director of development.

James will be pivotal to our ongoing development of a robust software solution with more options that appeal to our clients and their customers."

As director of development, Smith will be instrumental in guiding the growth of Eclicktic™, and future development for Myriad's furniture retail-management software tool for point-of-sale, inventory management, merchandising, accounting and more. He will oversee the company's technical side, focusing on development tools, emerging technologies and management of Myriad's development team. Smith will also supervise the company's continual quality-assurance process, a job that's very close to his heart.

"My goal," says Smith, "is to bring the next generation of Eclicktic to market with quality unequaled by any of Myriad's competitors."

During the last two decades, Smith developed software technologies for companies like State Farm Insurance and Sony. He also redesigned hardware, including that for Toshiba International. His understanding and use of technology, management techniques and quality processes have resulted in successful developments for e-commerce and "software as a service" (SaaS).

Raised by an American father and a Venezuelan mother in Venezuela, Smith came to the United States in 1988 to continue his education in nuclear physics. Shortly after his arrival, he decided to enlist in the Navy and switched his career path to electronics and computers. After six years in the Navy, which included service during Desert Storm and Desert Shield, Smith settled into civilian life and a technology career.

Except for the time he was overseas, Smith's 20 years in the U.S. have all been spent in San Diego. He currently resides with his wife, Jenny, daughter, Blake, and four dogs in Vista, a short, 20-minute drive to Myriad's headquarters in Rancho Bernardo. When he isn't focused on computers, Smith and his family enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
