Myriad’s new Retail Price Manager is the company’s latest response – and newest enhancement

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 3, 2005) – “Tell us what you want.” That remark has reverberated through Myriad Software’s annual Users’ Conference for years. This time, the home furnishings business-system developer responds with the Retail Price Manager, an enhancement that makes retail-price changing a matter of a few keystrokes. The Retail Price Manager replaces what furniture retailers have been doing in a variety of ways, including overriding at the point of sale. Whatever the reason for a price change – a chair clearance or a sofa spectacular, a seasonal sales event, increased manufacturers’ costs or staying competitive in the marketplace – price changes can be handled now in advance of the event and with the knowledge of what they will cost. “We can control our retail pricing behind the scenes, before the promotion begins,” explains Susan Johnson of Bassett Atlanta, one of the early users of the price manager. Another Myriad client, Rick Huffman of Bassett San Marcos, values the fact that the price manager ensures his stock margins are correct. “With the Retail Price Manager, you know exactly what the price change will cost you.” The Retail Price Manager is an efficient means of handling hundreds, even thousands, of changes in a single promotional category. “We might have one sofa in 14 colors and a variety of fabrics. With the price manager, we can deal with each option separately,” says Johnson. It’s also easy to use. “You put in a start date, an end date and click on the items on sale,” says Huffman. And that can apply to any number of items involved in the price change, as well as to any number of categorical price changes. For instance, a retailer can increase all sofas from a particular manufacturer by 10%, decrease all dining room furniture by 20% and mark down all discontinued items on the showroom floor by 13% -- simultaneously. The Retail Price Manager is the latest response to client requests from the company that pioneered customer relationship management, wireless inventory control, EDI and more.
